Factors affecting basic salary in Japan

The basic salary in each region of Japan will be different due to the influence of factors such as:

Area factor

Each region will have a different standard of living, different prices and quality of life. So the base salary will also be different.

Usually in big cities like Tokyo with high standard of living, expensive prices will have higher regional wages than other places.

Work factor

Typically, jobs with high job requirements will often have a high base salary. Jobs that require high requirements such as turning, milling, planing, mechanical engineering, carpentry ...

Enterprise salary framework

The base salary may depend on the factors of the enterprise salary bracket. Each business will have a different base salary bracket.

Where is the lowest base salary?

In contrast, the lowest base salary in Japan is 820 yen per hour. This basic salary applies to the 7 prefectures of Akita (秋田), Totori (鳥取), Shimane (島根), Kochi (高知), Saga (佐賀), Oita (大分) and Okinawa (沖縄). It is not surprising that these provinces all have a much lower standard of living and cost of living than the average in Japan. So with such a low basic salary, the workers here are still enough for their daily life and activities.
