Spouse Of Work Permit Holders Are Now Able To Work In Canada With Open Work Permit
Immigration minister Sean Fraser announced that Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will expand the ability of Open Work Permit to the spouses and working-age children

The expansion of Open Work Permit for spouses and working-age children is attracting immigrants to work or even settle down in Canada. Spouses of international students, permanent residences and Canada citizens can now be sponsored by their spouses to have Open Work Permit. By expanding these related to OWP requirements, Canada is welcoming immigrants from all over the world.
The program is expected to be implemented in the beginning of 2023 following 3 stages:
- High wage stream for spouses of higher paid workers in the TWFP (Temporary Foreign Worker Program_ who hold a work permit
- Provinces and territories stream – for spouses of lower wage workers within the TWFP
- Families of agriculture workers – this will help families to sought out with seasonal agricultural work.
The policy adjustments will ensure the number of Canadian immigrants continues to reach the scheduled plan for the next 3 years
