Cambrian is one of the top 50 public research colleges in Canada. Cambrian has an R&D center at the school, providing students with real-life work experience while still in school, and the opportunity to find a full-time job after completing the project. In addition, R&D often organizes a new idea debate contest every year with a prize of up to $6,500.

Cambrian also ranked #5 among mid-sized colleges in the number of students recruited from research projects.
